Vancouver based City Digital Media recently completed the construction, integration and installation of two interactive kiosks for Uptown in Victoria, Canada. Uptown is an upscale open air center, offering 860,000 square feet of sophisticated open-air shopping, Class A office space, stylish restaurants and amenities.  The interactive kiosks provide mall visitors with an engaging wayfinding tool and provides the shopping center with additional information and advertising opportunities.

Each kiosk is constructed of marine grade wood providing IP65 weatherproofing, and features a 46″ DS46LO4 DynaScan high brightness LCD with a daylight viewable brightness of 3,000 nits (cd/m²) to ensure optimum readability even in direct sunlight.  The screen includes a fanless thermal management system, full HD 1080p resolution and a direct lit LED backlight. Interactivity was achieved by adding a capacitive touch overlay and a commerical Linux based media player which can be updated an maintained remotely over the local network.
