DynaScan High Brightness Display Powers BOCA Center Interactive Directory

Florida’s The Shops at Boca Center recently finished the addition of an outdoor interactive directory kiosk featuring a DynaScan high brightness display.  The Shops at Boca Center is an upscale shopping center offering everything from the latest designer and European fashions for men and women, to fabulous footwear, eyewear & accessories, to unique gifts for the home.

The directory is part of an overhaul of the shopping center’s courtyard area and features a 47” touchscreen built into a custom outdoor kiosk enclosure located at the front of Boca Center’s entrance, facing Military Trail. The kiosk provides visitors of all ages with information about the shops and restaurants located at Boca Center, a directory of the businesses in Boca Center’s three office buildings, as well as updates about upcoming events, deals and specials.

The directory needed to be completely self-contained and weatherproof to ensure the system would be able to withstand the elements in a location such as South Florida.

Numerous vendors were needed in order to put the unit together. The kiosk enclosure itself was initially constructed in Vista, California by 2s2 Inc., who integrated a DynaScan DS47LT3 47” Fanless High Brightness Display with Zytronic Zytouch Touchscreen Technology.  The system runs on an Acrosser AR-V6100FL Fanless Industrial PC, and is temperature controlled by an IceQube Electronic Enclosure Thermal Management System.

This unit was then shipped to Baron Sign of Riviera Beach, Florida, who fabricated the external elements of the kiosk and prepared it for final installation.  The kiosk software was installed on the unit and tested at Baron Sign’s facility the week prior to being installed onsite at Boca Center.

Software for the system was developed by Rosstamicah – a media company specializing in web & graphic design, motion graphics, and custom development work. Content is updated remotely using a website hosted on a Dropbox server.  Any changes are automatically synced to the display software and may be accessed and configured over the internet through a secure LogMeIn connection.
